Flora Borsi- Episode Seven

I love when photography and art meet head on and the incredible self portraits created by my guest Flora Borsi caught my eye a few years ago. She lives and works in Budapest and has gained international recognition for her stand out imagery.

Armed with her Hasslbald X1D ii (see https://www.hasselblad.com/stories/flora-borsi/) and her Profoto lighting, Flora pours her emotional soul into her photographic art. It actually took me a while before I realized looking at her work that the person in the photos was always the same person, Flora!

She transforms herself in each and every image into a different ethereal persona and incorporates different elements into her self portraits. Animals, food, feathers, all combine with her in a way where you wonder where reality stops and fantasy begins.

Flora started teaching herself photography and retouching at the age of 11 and has never looked back.

You’ll also want to check our her many other series, especially her time travel work. She manipulates herself into historic images with famous icons and it’s done so seamlessly you might believe she really is a time traveller.
